Description : What is the love of the gypsy Carmen? Freedom and joy or humiliation and death? Can this wondrous feeling be born among the blood, the stench, the human scum in the rotten outskirts of the modern city? In the plot of the opera, Carmen, a tobacco factory worker, participates in a knife fight with another worker. She is arrested, but she captivates the soldier Jose and flees. He becomes her lover and smuggler, however, Carmen does not like poor Jose and he tries to regain her love. "Carmen" is a true masterpiece of opera art. Music, full of life and light, celebrates the freedom of the human person. The drama of clashes and conflicts is deeply true. The characters are depicted juicy, temperamentally, in all psychological complexity. If the characterization of Jose is dominated by the element of a song-romance, emphasizing his spiritual softness, then the unruly spirit of Carmen is revealed in the temperamental rhythms and melodies of Spanish folk songs.The film was shot in Spain without the use of scenery, against the background of the natural landscapes of the province of Andalusia in the vicinity of Ronda, Carmona and Seville.

About Anna Caterina:
Anna Caterina Antonacci (born 05.04.1961), an outstanding singer and actress of her generation, owns an extensive repertoire, which includes both parts written for soprano and for mezzo-soprano in works from Monteverdi to Massenet and Stravinsky.
In 2009, she became the owner of the highest artistic award of France - the Order of the Legion of Honor.
In addition, Anna Caterina became the winner of the Verdi Competition in Parma in 1987, the Maria Callas and Pavarotti Competition. In 1990 and in 2005 she was awarded the Abbati Prize of the Association of Italian Critics. About the conductor:
